Kolkata Local Trains Will Start From November 11, 2020

The meeting between West Bengal Government and the Eastern & Southern Railways officials on Wednesday hinted news of resuming local trains in Kolkata. Confirming the status, Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal announced that Railways will resume suburban services in West Bengal from November 11, 2020.

The news hinted that about 210 local trains will start running in Kolkata during the office hours.

The local trains will now stop only at important railway stations and also timings will be different from the previous time table. The new Kolkata local train schedule will be announced on Thursday according to the Railway officials. There will be some restrictions in the trains amid the fear of Covid-19. Passengers standing travel will not be allowed, hawkers are not allowed inside the trains and unnecessary gathering in the stations is prohibited.

According to senior Railway officials the standard operating procedure is finalised and will be announced on Thursday. In every train compartment a RPF police is deployed to monitor the social distancing and follow the safety guidelines.

Passengers who wish to travel on Kolkata local train can buy the tickets online or at the ticket booking counter in the Railway station.

Local trains have stopped services since March after lock down amid pandemic. People have been requesting officials to resume operations as lock-down rules have been eased in most parts of the country.
