Coronavirus spreading like a wildfire in Brazil

The Latin American country, Brazil has become a hot spot for COVID-19. The latest news indicates more than 4057 people have died and the number of patients crossed 56000. The actual death toll is estimated at over 10,000 people and the cases are estimated to be between 5.85 lakhs and 10 lakh. 450 people died on Friday. There is a dire shortage of coffins to bury the dead in Brazil due to coronavirus.

This is the case in all major cities, including Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. While 40,000 people have to be tested daily, the government has only 6,700 pieces of equipment for testing. Corona is still being taken lightly by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. The people are unable to cope with the failure of the government and are coming to their windows and protesting by making huge noises.

Brazil’s hospitals are full of corona patients. The bodies are cremated in mass graves as there is a lack of space in the cemeteries. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no stringent measures have been taken by President Jair Bolsonaro. The president also plans to ease the lockdown in May. Medical officers in Rio de Janeiro and four other major cities have already issued warnings that their hospital systems are on the verge of collapse. They say hospitals are so crowded that more patients cannot access them.

People still need to believe that coronavirus is a serious virus that kills people. Health activists say the Brazil president’s stance is one of the main reasons why people don’t take Corona seriously in this country.
